by | May 2, 2025

Elk Grove Fine Arts Center offers a peaceful place to enjoy art, learn new skills, and connect with others who appreciate creativity. Located at 9020 Elk Grove Blvd. Suite 101, Elk Grove, CA 95624, the center welcomes visitors Wednesday through Saturday from 11AM to 5PM, and Sundays from 11AM to 4PM. Step inside and discover a relaxing environment where art takes center stage.

Walking into the gallery, you’ll find a bright, open space filled with paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces from local artists. Each month, new shows open on the first Saturday, giving visitors a chance to see fresh artwork and meet the artists behind the pieces. These receptions run from 4PM to 7PM and often include light refreshments, making it easy to unwind and chat with fellow art lovers.

The gallery is not just for looking-it’s for experiencing. You might catch a live demonstration or hear stories from artists about their creative process. The gift shop inside the center is filled with unique, handcrafted items, perfect for a thoughtful gift or a treat for yourself.

Art Classes: Relax, Learn, and Create

If you’re looking for a way to relax and try something new, the center’s art classes are a great place to start. Taught by professional working artists, these classes cover a wide range of mediums and techniques. Whether you’re interested in watercolor, acrylic painting, collage, fabric art, or even mosaics, there’s a class for you.

Some recent and upcoming classes include:

  • Building Mixed Media and Collage
  • Beginning Acrylic: Spring Blossoms
  • Color Theory for Beginners
  • Chrysanthemum Watercolor
  • Creative Fabric Pins
  • Wire Orchid Watercolor

Classes are open to adults, and sometimes younger people can join, depending on the instructor. Each session is designed to be welcoming, whether you’re a total beginner or have been making art for years. Members receive a 10% discount on class registrations, making it even easier to keep learning.

Parking is simple, with spaces available in front of the center on Walnut Avenue, in the City of Elk Grove Public Lot on Railroad Street Alley, and across the street at the El Dorado Savings Bank extended lot. Just be mindful of residential driveways and time-limited spots.

Community Events: Art That Brings People Together

The center is known for its community spirit. The annual Elk Grove Festival of the Arts brings together artists, musicians, food, and wine for a lively day in Old Town Plaza. It’s a chance to see live art demonstrations, listen to music, and enjoy the company of neighbors and friends.

Throughout the year, the center also hosts an Art Lecture Series. These talks, led by artists and scholars, cover topics like the life of Vincent van Gogh or the wonders of the Italian Renaissance. Tickets are affordable, and each event includes light refreshments-a perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Support and Membership: Join the Creative Circle

Supporting the center is easy and rewarding. Becoming a member comes with benefits like 10% off workshops, early access to special events, complimentary open studio time, and invitations to members-only gatherings. There are special memberships for educators and seniors, making it accessible for everyone.

If you have extra art supplies at home, the center gladly accepts donations of paints, canvases, brushes, and more. These supplies help with fundraising and local art projects. Businesses can also get involved through sponsorships, adding their name to exhibitions and events.

Every donation, big or small, helps the center offer regular art exhibitions, educational opportunities, and events like the Festival of the Arts. Membership contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Artists: Local Talent on Display

The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is home to a diverse group of artists. From painters and sculptors to mixed-media creators, the center showcases the best of the region’s visual arts. Special exhibitions, like the recent show featuring artists from Short Center North, a program for adults with developmental disabilities, highlight the inclusive and supportive spirit of the center.
